We stand together, a unified voice of reason, in support of age appropriate reproductive health education and access to reproductive health counseling and services for all South Carolinians.

Second Chance for Love National Pet Adoption Weekend

Working to decrease unintended pregnancy and STI rates throughout South Carolina is hard work. At the end of the day, we each head home to relax and recharge our batteries- and what makes it all the better are the lovely faces we get to go home to: our pets.

This weekend is PetSmart Charities Second Chance for Love National Adoption Weekend. We are big supporters of pet adoption, and each have found our loving, caring roommates and friends at local shelters and through friends around the state.

I adopted my cat, Pompeii, from PetsInc in Columbia last summer. He is a rambunctious kitty, who loves catnip, drinking from the toilet, getting into bags, boxes and drawers, and sleeping on top of the couch while I write and work on Tell Them stuff.

Believe me, I’ve got many more pictures that I find adorable, but won’t force you to look through.

Our whole office is extremely pet friendly. Brandi Parrish, our Associate Director, has a chocolate lab named Pickles, who is the official mascot of the office. She recently adopted a small cat, Scooter.

Kelly has two cats, George and Lillie Beth.

These are the faces that greet us when we get home, and provide the hugs, love and cuddles when we need it. Pets offer unconditional love and brighten up any home. Studies have shown that pet owners live longer, have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, and have fewer doctors visits. Becoming a pet owner reduces loneliness and helps fight depression. Click here for more information on these studies.

We are big pet lovers, and support pet adoption.

Let’s tie this back to Tell Them for a second- it’s important to spay or neuter your pets. Aka pet birth control.

***Update*** Don’t forget that your pet can be a Tell Them supporter too! Check out our Pet T-Shirt at our zazzle store.

The PetSmart three-day adoption event is being held Friday April 30 through Sunday May 2 in all PetSmart stores nationwide.  Click here to Contact the PetSmart® store in your area for participation times of local animal-welfare agencies.

Here are some other local animal shelters and programs that specialize in pet adoption.
